Jul 20, 2011
The InterContinental Berlin played host to IHIF 7-9 March, one of the largest networking events in the industry calendar.
The Lenders’ Panel proved particularly popular with credit having been in such short supply for several years. Seven banks presented confirming the recent provision of new debt finance which has been invested in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Montenegro and the USA.
Delegates also appeared especially interested in the presentation by Thibault Dutreix of the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development. It was clear that many were unaware of the lender and their support for more undeveloped regions of Europe. Discussions regarding the levels of future debt ensued coupled with views on borrowing costs.
Also honoured was Alan Parker, retired Chief Executive of Whitbread at a special presentation of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
The opening reception showcased the redone Berlin Hilton, and the following night’s party, at NH Hoteles’ new nhow, both were a huge success.
