Julia Graham – Chief Risk Officer, DLA Piper
SUMMARY PROFILEJulia has worked in the world of risk and insurance for over 30 years.
She is the Chief Risk Officer for DLA Piper the largest legal services organisation in the world. Risk Management in DLA Piper has an "enterprise-wide" terms of reference, including legal and regulatory risk, operational risk (which includes health, safety, security and business continuity), client intake (including conflicts of interest, anti-money laundering and client engagement), information security, compliance, assurance and the insurance buying and claims management for all classes of cover.
Julia joined DLA Piper from the insurance company RSA in 2004 where she worked for over 25 years. At RSA Julia worked in a wide variety of roles in underwriting, business development, and operational management until 1995, when she established their first Global Risk Management function.
Julia is the immediate past Chairman of Airmic, the UK association of insurance and risk managers and Chairman of the Risk Panel of the Managing Partners' Forum whose membership specifically focuses on professional services organisations.
She was Chairman of the British Standards Institution (BSi) committee which published the first British standard for Risk Management BS31100 in 2008.
PUBLICATIONS
Julia is well known in the world of risk management and a frequently published author of associated articles, conference presenter and co-author with David Kaye of "A Risk Management Approach to Business Continuity". She is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute, Chartered Insurer and Fellow of the Business Continuity Institute.
