Russell Kett – Managing Director, London office of HVS

Russell Kett is Managing Director of the London office of HVS, the leading global specialist hotel valuation, consulting and brokerage firm which was founded in 1980. HVS operates from twenty-four offices worldwide, with the London office responsible for work carried out throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). He also serves on the worldwide Board of HVS.

The London office has some 35 people working exclusively on hotel valuations, feasibility studies, market studies, shared ownership developments, executive search, asset management, investment appraisals, brokerage, investment banking and related services. HVS has more than 300 specialist hotel consultants around the world and is renowned for (literally) having "written the book" on how to value hotels.

After gaining his hotel school qualifications, Russell joined Strand Hotels as an internal auditor, then as the assistant financial controller of the 900-room Cumberland Hotel in London. He entered consultancy initially with the hotel consultancy divisions of accountancy firms Deloitte & Touche and BDO Stoy Hayward (Horwath Consulting), before joining HVS in January 1995.

Russell has some thirty-five years' specialist hotel consultancy, investment and real estate experience and generally focuses on the provision of valuation, feasibility, shared ownership, property, brokerage, investment, asset management, strategy and related consultancy services, advising hotel companies, financial institutions, developers and investors on all aspects of their hospitality industry related interests, throughout the EMEA region.

He is a frequent writer, moderator and speaker on the international hotel industry, and on topics relating especially to the valuation of and investment in hotels, resorts and shared ownership developments, as well as on the hospitality sector generally. He lectures regularly at leading international hotel schools including Cornell University, Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne, IMHI-Essec in Paris, Oxford Brookes University and the Scottish Hotel School, University of Strathclyde, where he was a Visiting Senior Lecturer.
