Bench Summer Social 2014

On the 8th July, the Bench Events team congregated for their annual summer party. Thanks to Joanne Howell we got a fantastic recommendation to visit Aveqia London, which was just off Fleet Street. The concept behind Aveqia is that you cook an elaborate meal while bonding with your colleagues.  As the summer intern I feel I bonded sufficiently with everyone, and getting to know each other on an informal basis was extremely good fun.

We were greeted with a glass of bubbly and a warm welcome from the chefs who were soon to teach us recipes from heaven. We were all divided into teams, each reponsible for a particular dish in an elaborate 4 course michelin starred lunch. Luckily, I was cooking the starter therefore my responsibility did not last long! The starter was quale, served with an anchovy sauce. I personally rated it highly however the winning dish (as voted by the team) HAD to be the desert: a delicious raspberry crepe roulade- who could say no! These four courses were accompanied by an infinite supply of wine matched to each dish which meant the afternoon continued into the early evening.

I would advise all companies or parties to go to Aveqia for a lunch because it is a truely unique dining experience.

 

Following an extremely filling lunch, the team staggered up the road to The Happenstance bar near St Paul’s where the fun continued. As the sun was setting, champagne was being popped and Brazil were loosing horrifically to Germany, the team enjoyed the rest of their well-deserved summer celebration.
